Up-close4/4/2016 This project inspired by the work of Georgia Okeefe was really fun for me. She would take objects and magnify them to give her work an abstract look. I chose to draw a geode in colored pencil. The geode was very colorful and abstract which was hard to show, it just kind of looked like a design but that's the point of the project. I don't have a lot of practice with colored pencil but I learned some new ways to use them. I used circular motions to build the color and value more in certain areas and used so many colors. I used probably about 50 different colors in the end. I also used a lot of white to show the highlight and a light yellow/gold color.
Colored pencil4/4/2016 All of the apples we drew/painted were very beneficial for understanding how you can show value with colors. It showed me that even a red apple can have some blue in it, or a blue object has orange in it. I saw color as one of my weaknesses but this helped me improve. I learned some new techniques with the colored pencil, and some new things with watercolor but I have lots of experience with watercolor so it wasn't very new to me.
Perspective Final4/4/2016 For my perspective drawing I did a picture my step mom took at the airport she was at when she traveled to Ireland. This was very challenging. The hardest part about this drawing was finding the vanishing points because there were multiple. The lights on the ceiling created a very different and difficult pattern that was hard to follow. Along with the walls and floor, I couldn't get the detail of the tiled floor in so I made the tiles in the drawing bigger. I also couldn't give enough depth with pen in the walls so I made them striped to show more value. This was also my first time doing a pen drawing, which was especially hard with the perspective
